Environmental Task Force
A Community Group to Protect the Environment

The City is pleased to announce the formation of a community group to tackle green issues for Manhattan Beach. Over the next 18 months, the Environmental Task Force will meet to address several issue areas that City Council has determined are particularly important to our community.

The Task Force will examine:

City Council and the School Board have appointed 19 residents to the Task Force, including three elected officials. Mayor Mitch Ward and Councilmember Portia Cohen will co-chair the Task Force. Amy Howorth, School Board Member, will also serve on the Task Force, representing the School Board.

To research the identified priority environmental issue areas and make recommendations to City Council, the Task Force members have been divided into the four subcommittees listed above. City Staff from the City Manager's Office, and the Community Development and Public Works departments, will assist the Task Force in their efforts to green the City of Manhattan Beach.
