No Doubt, We're in a Drought!
It may be hard to believe that
we are in a drought when living by the ocean. Look at all that water! The truth is, only 1% of the earth's water is potable (immediately available for drinking). The earth's water is 97% salt water, 2% glaciers, and only 1% potable. How then, can we get through a drought?
Conserve the potable water we have! Conserving potable water may be easier than you think, and it requires a team effort. Through a series of permanent lifestyle changes, we can make a difference and keep the earth beautiful for generations to come.
The City of Manhattan Beach adopted a new Water Conservation Ordinance, effective July 2, 2009. This ordinance includes "Permanent Water Conservation Requirements" and "stages" of additional restrictions in the event of an allocation ordered by the Metropolitan Water District. Because of the current state of the drought, the Stage 2 10% reduction began July 2, 2009.
