Crime Prevention strengthens relations between the Police Department and the public, interacts and educates youth, gathers and disseminates statistical data, provides a variety of crime prevention programs, conducts security inspections and coordinates volunteer activities.  Additionally the Crime Prevention Officer, in conjunction with the Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach Police Departments, produces the local television program "Beach Beat.” 

The Crime Prevention Bureau is committed to educating residents by:

  • Sharing crime prevention techniques to help them protect themselves and their property
  • Providing assistance to crime victims
  • Reducing the number of false alarm calls
  • Maintaining a positive and progressive work place for our volunteers who contribute thousands of hours of work for the welfare and safety of our entire community

The Crime Prevention Bureau offers useful information regarding law enforcement programs, Personal Safety Tips, and Home Safety Tips for residents of our community.  

Also located in the Crime Prevention office are Neighborhood Watch, the Victim Assistance Team (VAT), and volunteer services personnel. The Police Department volunteer work force has nearly 500 members who provide countless hours of service to our community.

The Crime Prevention Bureau also coordinates the False Alarm Prevention Program.
