Solid Waste and Recycling Programs

TRASH and RECYCLING PROGRAMS

Waste Management, Inc. is the City's franchise waste hauler and manages all residential and commercial programs.  Service is separated into two distinct areas of the City, one for manual collection and one for semi-automated collection.  The area west of Bell/Blanche/Valley, generally known as the "Sand Section", receives manually collected trash and recycling service.  The rest of the City receives semi-automated residential curbside service (Service Area Map).  The arrangement was developed utilizing extensive public input and was determined to be the best alternative considering the formidable restraints on space and mobility of trucks in the areas close to the beach.

TRASH and RECYCLING CONTAINERS

Residents in the Sand Section must supply their own trash containers.  However, blue recycling and green green waste recycling containers are supplied FREE of charge by Waste Management.  These cans are only available in the 33 gallon size due to the manual nature of the collection.  You may request as many as you need.  However, you should keep them on your property and out of public view when not out for collection.  If you need a new recycling or green waste container please call Waste Management at (310) 830-7100.

All other residential areas of the City use the semi-automated carts with 33 gallon, 64 gallon and 96 gallon sizes.  You may request as many as you need but you should keep them on your property and out of public view when not out for collection.  If you need a new recycling or green waste container please call Waste Management at (310) 830-7100.
