Braille Institute Mobile Solutions

Is your vision fading? Mobile Solutions, a specialized van that brings Braille Institute's programs and service to those unable to travel to the center in Los Angeles, is now coming to Manhattan Beach on a monthly basis.  Free low-vision rehabilitation consultations are available by appointment.  You can also sign up for the Braille Institute's Library Services and those qualified can sign up to receive talking books.  The Mobile Solutions van is equipped with high-powered magnifiers, closed-circuit televisions and other adaptive equipment to help maximize remaining vision.  The van also features display areas where you can purchase unique adaptive equipment.

Join your fellow older adults on the first Monday of every month at Cafe Boba Loca located at 210 North Aviation Boulevard, #C, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM for a night of poetry, improv, short stories, comedy and more! Cafe Boba Loca is located on the east side of the street between 2nd Street and Manhattan Beach Boulevard in the Manhattan Beach Pointe Plaza. All participants will receive a 15% discount on coffee, tea, juices, pastries and sandwiches!

Dial-A-Ride
If seniors or disabled individuals are in need of a ride to and from Cafe Boba Loca, schedule a ride with Dial-A-Ride by calling (310) 802-3500. Reservations are taken 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends. Our office is closed for lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Reservations may be made up to 7 days in advance. The service is provided on a first call, first served basis; consequently, reservations should be made as far in advance as possible.

Be Health Wise: A Free Health Education Series
