As part of the City’s Work Plan, Council directed the Cultural Arts Commission to establish a Donor policy and a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Strand Bench and Alcove improvement program. The project was undertaken with the intent of making the bench alcoves along the Strand an aesthetically pleasing and a restful place to enjoy the beach. Council set the level of quality intended for the Strand benches by selecting a beautiful organic design made from a environmentally sustainable material; six of these benches are now installed on the Strand.
