Established by resolution, the Parks & Recreation Commission is responsible for the recreational needs of all citizens, and shall promote supervised public recreation within the City. Consists of seven (7) members: five (5) at large members, one (1) representative from Manhattan Beach Unified School District, and one (1) student representative, who meet on the 4th Monday of every month at 6:00 PM.

** Members appointed to fill a vacancy with less than 18 months remaining in the term are automatically reappointed to a three-year term without additional Council action.
*** If a vacant seat had 18 months or more remaining in its original term, the member would complete the original term and then be eligible for reappointment to one succeeding three-year term.

If you have tree questions, this free class is a great opportunity to discuss your specific concerns with a certified arborist, and get some knowledgeable advice on how to solve a variety of problems. The focus will be on climate appropriate trees for the beach area. This interactive class will include figuring out what's going on with your trees, when is the best time to plant and the best time to trim.This free class is located in the Amphitheater in the center of the Botanical Garden, on the west side of Polliwog Park. Free Parking is available next to the Botanical Garden on Peck Avenue, or the adjacent lot at the end of Peck Avenue off Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
