A city employment application is required for all open positions. Recreation Leader II- Afterschool (PT), Job No. 16-057

The City of Manhattan Beach is now accepting applications for the position of part-time Recreation Leader II (Afterschool REC) with the Parks and Recreation Department. The Recreation Leader II will assist with the Afterschool REC Program and ensure good customer service is administered to all guests. The Afterschool REC Program is an enriched after school drop-off for youth ages 6 through 12 with homework assistance and recreational programs at four (4) park sites throughout the City. Recreation Leader II are expected to work independently and provide a menu of activities for participants at the assigned site. The school year program hours are Monday through Friday from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM with occasional weekend special events. Vacation and Summer program hours are Monday through Friday from 7:15 AM to 6:00 PM.

HOURS: Part-Time positions will not work over 960 hours per fiscal year. Will be required to work shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Training & Experience: Six (6) months of recreation program experience or experience with the public. The completion of 24 units of related college courses if preferred. Persons with a minimum of one (1) year of college with an emphasis in recreation are encouraged to apply. Experience leadership capacity (paid or unpaid) within a recreation environment is highly desirable.

License: A valid Class "C" drivers license is required at the time of employment and acceptable driving record is required.
