The City of Manhattan Beach is now accepting applications for Part-Time Fire Inspector. Under general supervision the Fire Inspector inspects commercial, industrial, residential, and places of public assembly to determine compliance with state and local fire codes and perform other related duties as directed.
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
License & Certificates: Completion of both Fire Prevention 1A and 1B OR Fire Inspector 1A from a State (California) Fire Marshal Office is required. Completion of Fire Inspector 1B, 1C, and 1D is highly desirable. Previous fire prevention experience is desirable. Must possess a valid Class C California driver's license.
Special Conditions of Employment: Cannot have smoked or used tobacco products up to one year prior to employment and must continue as a non-tobacco user during employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires working knowledge of driver safety. Must acquire skill in operating radio, pager, personal computer, and telephone. Must have the ability to read and write in the English language; understand and follow oral and written directions; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and member of the public; read and interpret state/local codes and local laws/regulations pertaining to fire prevention and fire safety.
