Older Adults Health Fair Flyer 2018

Manhattan Beach, CA (April 30, 2018) – Older adults (50 and over) are invited to attend the 40th annual Manhattan Beach Older Adult Health Fair at Joslyn Community Center (1601 Valley Drive, Manhattan Beach) on Friday, May 18, 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Older Adults who want to take charge of their health will be provided with an array of free or low cost medical services and the opportunity to learn about local services and programs. The event is sponsored by the City of Manhattan Beach and South Bay Family Health Care.

Free medical screenings include: anemia, blood pressure, body fat analysis, bone density, cholesterol, hearing, glucose, lung capacity, pharmacy review, and vision. Health Fair attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a yoga demonstration. The Doppler test, which screens for strokes, will be offered for $20 and requires pre-registration (call 310-802-6177 ext. 1123).

Community resource information booths will provide material about Dial-A-Ride, Beach Cities Health District, South Bay Family Health Care, volunteer programs and services, emergency preparedness, safety, and more! Local health and service providers, including the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and Social Security Administration, will have interactive booths with details of services available.

A Free lunch will be offered at 12 noon, followed by door prizes for those who’ve collected tickets during the health fair.

South Bay older adults are encouraged to participate in this admission-free health screening event. Transportation for older adults residing in Manhattan Beach will be provided by calling Dial-A-Ride at 310-545-3500.
