Looking for building plans or construction documents for your property?
If building plans and construction documents are available, they are archived in Community Development. Most construction documents are public record and if available, can be viewed by the public. All public record plans and permits are available for review by the Public, at the Community Development counter in City Hall. Extended service hours for residents in the community, as well as vendors or business-owners are Monday through Thursday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, alternate open Fridays 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
To obtain copies of your plans, you must determine: (a) if the City has the plans in archive and (b) if the plans in archive were created by a licensed professional architect. All available residential microfiche records (built prior to May 1, 2005) have been converted to digital. Please come to Community Development and use the computer at the Public counter to check the digital records system.
Written approval must be obtained from both the property owner and the licensed professional architect before copies of building plans can be made. Complete the Authorization to Duplicate Plans (PDF) forms and the Request for Records (PDF) form and give them to the Permit Technicians, along with any required authorization letters. If your plans were not created by an architect, then no written approval from the designer is required, only the homeowner.
