Public Works: Keeping the Community Green

There are several programs to highlight in the Public Works Department, including a Sharps Disposal Program, Unwanted Medication Drop-off, and Battery Recycling.

To help answer questions about environmental issues such as water conservationhousehold hazardous wasterecycling and storm water pollution, the Public Works department has summarized the City's efforts in these areas, and more, on the Environmental Programs webpage.

2016 Energy Efficiency Audit

In October 2016, the City of Manhattan Beach completed an energy efficiency audit of its Parks and Facilities. The audit analyzes existing energy use and recommends measures to improve energy efficiency and include an evaluation of renewable energy generation and energy storage opportunities.

The audit results can be found by downloading the 2016 Energy Efficiency Audit report (PDF), and will be reviewed at a City Council meeting for public discussion in January 2017.
