Our current chief is Daryn Drum, who was hired in 2019. Our equipment has also been upgraded several times since then, our newest piece of apparatus is a 75 foot aerial ladder with a 2000 gallon per minute pumper manufactured by Engine One. Our city determined several years ago that our existing station on 15th street had become inadequate by any standard. As such, the project of constructing a state of the art fire/police facility was initiated on January 27, 2004, financed through a bond initiative. We moved in on July 6, 2006, and are always very proud to display our new home to the public.

In the beginning, our volunteers felt a need to provide protection to the citizens of our city. This remains the core motivation of firefighters all across the country. Our goal is, and always has been, to help all citizens in their time of need. The trust and appreciation we receive every day from the public remains our most valuable asset. Winston Churchill once said “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give”. Firefighters consider it a privilege and an honor to help others. Your Manhattan Beach Fire Department is here to protect and serve. This we will continue to do to the best of our ability. That is our promise to you.
