Explanation of the Hiring Process
When you submit your application, it will be entered into our employment database and kept in a recruitment folder. After the position closes, applications are evaluated based on the minimum qualifications stated in the job announcement. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are considered eligible for further consideration. People who have submitted an application can request status of their application by filling out an online Application Status form, or by calling the Human Resources Department at (310) 802-5258. Applicants selected to continue in the recruitment process will be contacted by the Human Resources Department one to two weeks after the specified closing date. If there is no closing date posted, applicants will be contacted regarding their status once a written and/or oral interviews have been established. Applicants not selected will be notified by mail concerning the status of their application. The job announcement will specify the exam components and weights for the recruitment process. If an applicant requires special accommodations for any portion of the testing process please contact the Human Resources Department prior to the testing date.
If you are considered for the position, there may be a series of exams which you may be required to partake in. These exams may consist of a written exam and/or an oral interview. Some oral interviews may be conducted by a panel of experts in that specific area. If you are considered for hire, you will receive a phone call from the Human Resources Analyst. You will be offered a conditional employment offer, contingent upon successfully completing a background investigation, fingerprinting, and a physical examination.
