How do I apply?
All applicants must submit a City of Manhattan Beach Employment Application. The application must be completed in full including the record waiver. We will not accept a resume in lieu of an application unless noted on the job announcement. We do not accept facsimiles, photocopies, electronic mail, final filing date postmarks, or emailed applications. The employment application must be received by the Human Resources Office before 5:00 PM on the deadline date as stated on the job announcement. For some positions, there may be a supplemental application required in addition to the city employment application.
Please note beginning July 1, 2014, Pursuant to AB218, the City will no longer request conviction information or proof of safe driving record at the time of application submission for paid employment unless required by law or exempt from AB218.
Your application must include at least ten years of employment history (assuming you have been employed for ten years) and you must explain any gaps in employment (i.e. unemployed, school, military, etc.). You must include your work experience for each position listed on the City application form. Entering “see resume” for your work experience on the City application form is not acceptable and your application may be rejected. You must also include the months and years for each period listed, salary information for each job, your reason for leaving each job and the names, address and phone numbers of present and past supervisors or managers. Your application may be rejected if incomplete or if you fail to provide this information.
