March 23, 2020 Utilizing various community partnerships, the City of Manhattan Beach has coordinated a resource delivery program that serves older adults that need assistance during the coronavirus pandemic. Older adults can now call the City’s Older Adult hotline at (310) 802-5010 and coordinate meals, transportation, medication, groceries, or other essential items from community and City employee volunteers. Walmart will be temporarily closing Auto Care Centers and imposing per-person restrictions on paper products, milk, eggs, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, water, diapers, wipes, formula and baby food.

For customers who are 60+ under each store's new adjusted hours. Whole Foods also says its locations will close to shoppers "up to two hours early," though they will remain open for pickup and Amazon Prime delivery.

City Facility and Event Programming Changes
Manhattan Beach, CA (March 13, 2020) – In response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the City of Manhattan Beach has closed the Joslyn Community Center and cancelled all Older Adult Programming until the end of April 2020. This action is taken out of an abundance of caution, and to protect the health and safety of the public, and older adults in particular that are vulnerable to COVID-19. In addition, following Governor Gavin Newsom’s recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19, the City has postponed or cancelled special events with large public gatherings until the end of April 2020. Volunteers Needed

The Manhattan Beach Older Adults Program is currently seeking volunteers to assist with activities at the Joslyn Community Center. Volunteers are needed to help staff the reception desk in the recently remodeled lobby of the Community Center and to assist with our popular nutrition program, The Lunch Bunch. If you are able to commit to a three hour shift weekly and would like to help your community by working in a pleasant, vibrant environment, please contact the Older Adults Program, at (310) 802-5430.


The City of Manhattan Beach provides a variety of activities and services for older adults including Dial-A-Ride transportation, bus excursions, classes, activities and Senior Clubs and much more. The Older Adults Program is continuing to expand the programs and activities available to the citizens of Manhattan Beach, as well as those in surrounding communities.
