Coloring has the therapeutic potential to reduce anxiety, create focus, and bring about more mindfulness. Like meditation, coloring allows the brain to switch off other thoughts and focus. Plus, it's fun! All skill levels are welcome. Pencils and some coloring books are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own.

Lunch Bunch and Lunch Bunch 2.0 are two weekly nutrition programs held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Joslyn Community Center. The program is designed especially for Manhattan Beach residents aged 55 or above. It affords an opportunity to make new friends while you enjoy a delicious lunch. It is a cooperative venture with Linda Lytle and Darryl Potik facilitating. The goal is to develop acting and speaking skills for the novice actor as well as those with some experience. Those who aren’t sure about joining such a venture are welcome to participate as an audience member. However, the goal is to participate in a live performance one a year at the Joslyn Community Center. So, if you aren’t interested in performing, there is always a need for stagehands and other necessary help. (Memorization is not required)

Fun and adventure awaits as you embark on a journey of discovery through the performing arts. Whether seasoned performer or neophyte yearning to try something new, you’ll find an outlet for those creative urges. Anything goes: drama, comedy, music, dance –even improv. KC Johnson and Maria A. Ruiz, two experienced artists in the South Bay, facilitate sessions in which participants choose scenes and monologues from material provided --or you may bring your own. The group periodically performs staged readings at the Joslyn Community Center.

Agility is the ability to change the direction of the body in an efficient and effective manner, requiring a combination of balance and coordination. This class will be using common dumbbell weights, balance balls, ladders and cones to perform fun coordination exercises that utilize eye-hand coordination working towards greater stationary and moving body balance.

Tea and Tai Chi

Join us and be rejuvenated through the gentle art of Sun Style Tai Chi. We will start with some tea, chat and then settle into a wonderful set of warm up exercises to help you unwind from your busy week. Next we will learn the basic six postures of our Tai Chi form, well known for its ability to help adults with range of motion, balance or arthritis issues. Together let’s explore the graceful power of Tea and Tai Chi and start the weekend in a refreshed, relaxed state of mind. No registration required.
