City Facility and Event Programming Changes
Until the End of April Due to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

COVID Event and Facility Closure

In response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the City of Manhattan Beach has closed the Joslyn Community Center and cancelled all Older Adult Programming until the end of April 2020. This action is taken out of an abundance of caution, and to protect the health and safety of the public, and older adults in particular that are vulnerable to COVID-19.  In addition, following Governor Gavin Newsom’s recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19, the City has postponed or cancelled special events with large public gatherings until the end of April 2020.

In addition, the City has established a dedicated phone number for at-risk older adults who may be displaced by the closure of the Joslyn Community Center and suspension of the Older Adults program. Contact the City for assistance at (310) 802-5010.

For more information, please read the entire City Facility and Event Programming Changes Press Release (PDF) and for accurate and up to date information, please visit DPH’s website and the City’s website.

Welcome to the Joslyn Center Senior OASIS Room. This room is a daytime activity space where adults, ages 55 and above, can participate in recreation, socialization, educational and fitness activities, as well as find a variety of helpful, relevant services.

The City of Manhattan Beach is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for our participants, visitors and staff. To help ensure a supportive setting for all who attend, the following Code of Conduct was established.

The following is not acceptable conduct:

Failure to comply with the above will be addressed in the following manner:

  1. First Incident: Counseling with Older Adults Coordinator followed by letter to the participant. Copy of letter will be sent to Recreation Services Manager.
  2. Second Incident: Counseling with a verbal warning from the Older Adults Coordinator and Recreation Services Manager followed by a letter to the participant.
