Whaley HouseWhaley House, a California Historic Landmark has been named the number one most haunted house in the U.S. Then we visit the Old Adobe Chapel built in 1850 followed by lunch and shopping on your own in Old Town San Diego. The Huntington LibraryThe Huntington is 150 acres of art and breathtaking gardens. This trip includes a one hour guided walking tour where you'll learn the history of this famous landmark. Following the tour, you'll have the afternoon to explore on your own. Lunch is on our own at one of the five dining options. Pick-up and drop-off will be at both JCC and MHP.

LA ZooThe zoo takes on a whole new glow with glittering light tunnels, animal-themed lights, lasers, glowing snowflakes, and more. Then, the Tam O'Shanter is a perfect place for a special holiday dinner with a choice of entrée: crown roast beef, chicken breast, or filet of sole. Served with a salad and delicious English trifle for dessert. Pick-up and drop-off will be at both JCC and MHP.

Rose Bowl ParadeEach New Year's Day, attention is shone upon the City of Pasadena, home of the Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl game. It's a century old tradition, a festival of flowers, music and sports. We will have grandstand seats on Colorado Boulevard for up-close viewing. And, we should be back in time to see the Rose Bowl game on television. Pickup will be at both JCC and MHP.

Mini Bus Trips

Mini Bus Trip registration is done directly through the Older Adults Program starting at 8:00 AM on the first business day of the month in which the trip is occurring. Reservations will not be accepted prior to 8:00 AM. If you are interested in registering for Mini Bus Trips please contact the Older Adult Program at (310) 802-5430. Payment for all mini bus trips are due when registering. In the event you are unable to attend the trip after registering, your payment will be returned only if a replacement is found. If you are unable to attend the trip contact (310) 802-5449 or stop by the Older Adult Program office at 1601 North Valley Drive, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.

Will Rogers House

 By the mid-1930's, Will Rogers was one of the most popular and highest paid actors in Hollywood and "America's" most beloved citizen. During the 1920's. Will Rogers bought land in Santa Monica, where he developed a ranch. Will Roger's ranch consisted of a 31 room ranch house with neighboring guest housing, a stable, corrals, riding ring, roping arena, polo field, golf course, and riding trails. This tour is fun and enlightening as it gives us insight into Will Rogers life and his passions. A boxed lunch will be included in the cost.

Mindfullness

Studies have shown that being in nature can reduce blood pressure and make us calmer. We will do a special mindfulness practice at the Botanical Gardens in Polliwog Park. There will be 2 to 3 periods of guided and unguided mindfulness practice with light stretching. We will enjoy nature and have lunch while being mindful. Bring your own lunch on this trip.
