Each add-on activity listed below is site specific. No sibling discounts. Price is per child per week.

  • Swim Lessons (MHP) - Activity Number: 32840
    Resident: $20 Nonresident: $22
    On Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM, campers will be walked to Begg Pool for group swim lessons. Maximum 30 children per week. Ratio of 4 children to 1 swim instructor.
  • Ceramics (LOP) - Activity Number: 32841
    Resident: $15 Nonresident: $17
    On Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM, campers will be walked to the Live Oak Ceramics Studio and glaze 1-2 pieces over the two-day period. Max. 20 children/week.

Field trip buses will pick up at both camp sites. Campers that are not going on the field trip must be dropped off at Manhattan Heights Park. Live Oak Park will be CLOSED on Trip Days once trip bus departs. There is no transportation provided between sites.

Registration confirmation must be brought to staff upon arrival to camp. Any children not registered prior to attending the REC Summer Camp will not be able to stay.

About REC Summer Camp
The REC Summer Camp is an eight-week program held June through August. This program is concurrent with the Manhattan Beach Unified School District vacation schedule. Participants may register week by week or for the entire summer at a discounted rate. There is a limit of 80 children maximum per week.

REC Summer Camp is a user-pay program for children ages 6 to 12. This recreation program incorporates education and fun. We strive to provide these services in a fun, safe and wholesome environment that allows our young people to grow as individuals while interacting as a group. Children are encouraged to participate in all scheduled activities; however, if they choose not to, alternate activities are available. All programs are supervised by trained CPR certified recreation leaders.

All park users must respect and follow park rules.

Rules and Restrictions

  • Ages 6 to 12 only.
  • Parents or guardians are not permitted to attend the trips.
  • All field trips are subject to change due to weather or any unforeseen circumstances.
  • If the trip is canceled, full refunds will be given.
  • REC Summer Camp at Manhattan Heights Park will be open to all enrolled REC Summer Camp participants who are not going on the trip.
  • Participants will be divided into two groups, according to their comfort level, to make everyone's day enjoyable. The leader-to-participant ratio is 1 leader for every 10 participants.
    • Adventure Group: Fast and slow paced rides
    • Explorer Group: Slow paced rides only
  • On the day of the field trip, all participants must have proof of field trip registration.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • NO REFUNDS FOR REC SUMMER CAMP WEEKS AFTER REGISTRATION
  • All field trips are subject to change
  • If the trip is canceled, full refunds will be given.
  • Refunds will be granted ONLY for field trips. A Refund Request Form must be submitted at least 5 business days prior to the field trip.
  • Refunds will not be given to any refund requests after the deadline.
  • All refunds granted are subject to a $25 administrative fee.
  • Refund Request Form (PDF) is available to download (PDF) and may be submitted via email or at  the Parks and Recreation Department
