Every nine and a half months the City Council conducts a reorganization at which time a new Mayor is selected. The Mayor has the discretionary responsibility to review the standing list of City Council assignments to various government and community-related committees, and make changes as he or she feels are necessary. Once City Council has ratified the assignments, they will remain in effect until the next City Council rotation.
